Don’t Forget:  Good News*

  “Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed…he went home…and in his upper room…with his windows open toward Jerusalem…he knelt down on his knees three times that day and prayed and gave thanks before his God…as was his custom since early days.”

Daniel 6:10   

             There is an eye opening message in the last seven words of Daniel 6:10… “As was his custom since early days.”

Just think of the possibilities if all God’s people were as consistent and faithful in their prayer lives as Daniel.  Daniel prayed when he was young…he prayed when he was middle-aged…as he continued to pray into his golden years… he remained a mighty prayer warrior…when times were good…when times were bad…Daniel’s personal faith is shown in his prayer life…never once do we read where Daniel was too busy and/or forgot to pray.

Many scholars and historians believe Daniel had a room built on top of his house specifically for prayer. The windows were permanently opened toward Jerusalem. This was an act of faith on the part of Daniel… an exiled Jewish boy being held captive in Persia. The threat was real…the decree had been written and signed by Darius the king…yet Daniel remained steadfast in his prayer life…three times a day on his knees by the window facing Jerusalem.

Daniel got on his knees and prayed …that is a sign of reverence and humility. Daniel could have become very arrogant, because he was the chief administrator of the whole Persian Empire…but he knew and he also acknowledged he was merely a servant being used by the mighty hands of God.

Folks, Daniel was facing the lion’s den…he still prayed…he didn’t make excuses…he didn’t hide behind busyness…the reason being…he knew where his power came from.

With all that being said…why is it so difficult for us to set aside a specific time and a specific place every day to get on our knees and pray? We all know we need to, and we all face a lion’s den from time to time…we all face Goliaths…we all have Red Sea moments…we all face situations where we want and need Jesus to intervene. Yet, we make excuses and get so busy with life and before we realize it …we have missed an opportunity to have a moment alone with Jesus.

Prayer is the moments when we are connected to the power of Jesus. Prayer is when we involve our Jesus in the smallest, tiniest details of our lives. Prayer achieves what we cannot explain and reaches way beyond what anyone on this earth can take credit for.

Satan and his demons love to distract us…satan uses people and things that operate in direct opposition and rebellion to Jesus to steal our time and control our thoughts. Don’t let satan do that to you…satan only has what power you let him have…he is a defeated foe…he has no power.

Pray daily…there is power in Prayer…don’t forget.

Daniel oró cuando era joven… oró en su mediana edad… y continuó orando durante sus años dorados… permaneció como un poderoso guerrero de oración… cuando los tiempos eran buenos… cuando los tiempos eran difíciles… la fe personal de Daniel se demuestra en su vida de oración… nunca leemos que Daniel estuviera demasiado ocupado o que se olvidara de orar.

Muchos eruditos e historiadores creen que Daniel mandó construir una habitación sobre su casa específicamente para la oración. Las ventanas permanecían abiertas permanentemente hacia Jerusalén. Esto fue un acto de fe por parte de Daniel… un joven judío exiliado y cautivo en Persia. La amenaza era real… el decreto había sido escrito y firmado por el rey Darío… sin embargo, Daniel permaneció firme en su vida de oración… tres veces al día, de rodillas, junto a la ventana que daba hacia Jerusalén.

Daniel se arrodilló y oró… eso es una señal de reverencia y humildad. Daniel podría haberse vuelto muy arrogante, ya que era el administrador principal de todo el Imperio Persa… pero sabía y reconocía que solo era un siervo siendo usado por las poderosas manos de Dios.

Amigos, Daniel enfrentaba el foso de los leones… y aun así oró… no puso excusas… no se escondió detrás de estar ocupado… y la razón era sencilla… él sabía de dónde provenía su poder.

Dicho todo esto… ¿por qué nos resulta tan difícil apartar un tiempo específico y un lugar específico cada día para ponernos de rodillas y orar? Todos sabemos que lo necesitamos, y todos enfrentamos un foso de leones de vez en cuando… todos enfrentamos gigantes como Goliat… todos tenemos momentos de Mar Rojo… todos enfrentamos situaciones en las que queremos y necesitamos que Jesús intervenga. Sin embargo, ponemos excusas y nos ocupamos tanto con la vida que, antes de darnos cuenta… hemos perdido la oportunidad de tener un momento a solas con Jesús.

La oración es el momento en que nos conectamos con el poder de Jesús. La oración es cuando involucramos a nuestro Jesús en los detalles más pequeños y aparentemente insignificantes de nuestras vidas. La oración logra lo que no podemos explicar y alcanza mucho más allá de aquello por lo que cualquier persona en esta tierra pueda atribuirse el crédito.

Satanás y sus demonios aman distraernos… satanás usa personas y cosas que operan en oposición directa y rebelión contra Jesús para robarnos el tiempo y controlar nuestros pensamientos. No permitas que satanás haga eso contigo… satanás solo tiene el poder que tú le permites… es un enemigo derrotado… no tiene poder alguno.

Ora diariamente… hay poder en la oración… no lo olvides.
