Bryce Harper, Hunter Strickland start bench-clearing brawl between Nats, Giants

Washington Nationals star Bryce Harper charged San Francisco Giants reliever Hunter Strickland in the eighth inning of the teams’ game on Monday, leading to a bench-clearing brawl between the two clubs. Strickland plunked Harper in the hip with a 98 mph fastball. Harper then gestured at Strickland with his bat, strode to the mound, threw his helmet at the Giants pitcher and the two exchanged blows as benches cleared. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound right-hander had to be carried off the field by several of his San Francisco teammates to keep him away from the melee. Steve Kerr says he’s not planning to coach Game 1 of Finals

OAKLAND, Calif. – Golden State Warriors?coach Steve Kerr said it’s unlikely he returns to roaming the sidelines in time for Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, he didn’t completely rule it out. “As of right now, I will not coach Thursday night,” Kerr said after practice Monday. “It’s still up in the air.” Kerr addressed the media because acting head coach Mike Brown was under the weather and did not attend practice. ESPN was told that assistant coach Jarron Collins ran much of the session. “I told the team the good news is the team is really healthy, but the bad news is the coaching staff is dropping like flies,” Kerr joked. “So hopefully Mike will be back tomorrow.” The last time Kerr addressed the media prior to Monday was in between Games 2 and 3 of the opening round of the playoffs.
