Mt. Zion AME Church to Host Homecoming Worship Service in Valdosta

VALDOSTA, Ga. — Mt. Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church is inviting former members, friends and the wider community to return for a special homecoming worship service later this month.
The service, scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, April 19, will be held at the church, located at 4011 N. Oak St. The event centers on the theme, “The House That Faith Built: Welcoming All Back Home,” drawn from Psalm 127:1: “Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it…”
Organizers say the homecoming is intended to celebrate the church’s history while reconnecting generations of its extended family.
“This worship service is designed to honor the legacy, faith and commitment of those who laid the foundation and helped build this ministry,” said Rev. Felecia Brockington, pastor of Mt. Zion AME Church. “At the same time, we are joyfully welcoming back those who have been a part of our church family throughout the years.”

A special invitation is extended to former members, former students of Mt. Zion AME School, and family and friends of both current and past members.
Church leaders describe the event as an opportunity for fellowship, reflection and celebration of the congregation’s enduring spirit.
“No matter how long it has been, there is always a place for you here,” Brockington said.
The public is invited to attend.
