Faith, Family, and the Future of South Georgia *

When I think about what makes South Georgia special, it always comes back to three things — faith, family, and community. Those are the values that shaped me growing up here, and they’re the same values that keep our communities strong today.
Faith gives us direction when the road ahead isn’t always clear. Family reminds us what we’re fighting for. And community — the neighbors who show up, who lend a hand, who stand together when times get tough — that’s what keeps South Georgia moving forward.
As I’ve traveled across the district, I’ve heard from so many people who feel like those values are being forgotten in politics. Too much noise, not enough listening. Too much division, not enough unity. I believe it’s time we change that.
When we put our faith into action, when we invest in our families, when we stand together — there’s nothing this region can’t overcome. That’s the future I believe in.
I’m Michael Dockery, and I’m rooted here. I’ll always stand for our values — and for the people who make South Georgia home.

Cuando pienso en lo que hace especial al sur de Georgia, siempre regreso a tres cosas: la fe, la familia y la comunidad. Esos son los valores que me formaron al crecer aquí, y son los mismos valores que mantienen fuertes a nuestras comunidades hoy en día.
La fe nos da dirección cuando el camino por delante no siempre es claro. La familia nos recuerda por qué luchamos. Y la comunidad —los vecinos que se presentan, que tienden una mano, que se mantienen unidos cuando los tiempos se ponen difíciles— es lo que mantiene al sur de Georgia avanzando.
Mientras he viajado por todo el distrito, he escuchado a muchas personas que sienten que esos valores se están olvidando en la política. Demasiado ruido, poca escucha. Demasiada división, poca unidad. Creo que es hora de cambiar eso.
Cuando ponemos nuestra fe en acción, cuando invertimos en nuestras familias, cuando permanecemos unidos —no hay nada que esta región no pueda superar. Ese es el futuro en el que creo.
