Harrell Named Public Health Director of Nursing
Harrell brings a strong background in public health leadership and clinical nursing experience to the position. A graduate of Fitzgerald High School, Class of 2012, she earned her Associate of Science in Nursing from South Georgia State College in 2015 and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western Governors University in 2022. She then went on to receive her Masters of Nursing with a specialty in Leadership & Management from WGU in 2025.
Before joining public health, Harrell worked in the Emergency Department at Tift Regional Medical Center from 2015 to 2018. She joined the Ben Hill County Health Department in 2018 and has served as County Nurse Manager since 2024.
Throughout her public health career, Harrell has demonstrated a commitment to improving community health outcomes, supporting nursing staff, and ensuring high-quality clinical services across the district.

As Director of Nursing, Harrell will provide leadership and guidance for clinical nursing operations throughout the district, working closely with county health departments and district leadership to support public health programs and services.

Harrell resides in Fitzgerald with her husband, Drake Harrell, and their twin boys. Deeply rooted in the community, she remains passionate about advancing public health and supporting the health and well-being of residents across South Georgia.
