SGMC Health Honors Butenschon and Chadwick as Health System Heroes
Butenschon and Chadwick recently developed an immersive “escape room” simulation focused on the care of a premature infant, transforming a complex clinical topic into an engaging, hands-on learning experience. They designed every element—from the storyline to the props—challenging staff to use critical thinking, collaboration, and real-time decision-making to move through each stage of care.
“This experience reflects the very best of our nursing education teams—innovative, forward-thinking, and deeply committed to excellence in patient care,” said Cherise Giddens, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer. “Kendra and Amber have created an engaging learning environment that strengthens clinical skills, fosters teamwork, and improves outcomes for our most vulnerable patients.”
Known affectionately as the “dynamic duo” of the Simulation Lab, Butenschon and Chadwick consistently explore new, creative methods to educate and inspire staff. Their work highlights the importance of innovative, non-traditional approaches to learning—ensuring SGMC Health team members are well-prepared to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care.
