GA DNR Law Enforcement Announces New Director of Game Warden Academy
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division is pleased to announce the promotion of Sergeant Kevin Joyce to Captain and Director of the DNR Training Unit effective today. He is filling the vacancy of Captain Mitch Oliver, who recently retired.
“The success of our game wardens hinge on good training which is vitally important to enforcing the laws professionally and fairly, and to providing quality public safety services to our citizens,” said DNR Law Enforcement Director Colonel Chris Hodge. “Captain Joyce is a seasoned professional, and I am confident he will be an outstanding leader for our Training Unit and the Game Warden Academy.”
Capt. Joyce’s duties will include planning and directing the 15-week Game Warden Academy and planning and overseeing in-service training for all game wardens across the state.
Captain Joyce has been with DNR Law Enforcement for 24 years. His first assignment was in central Georgia, working in the Macon Region. In July 2012, he transferred to the Metter Region and was assigned to Montgomery County. He promoted to Corporal later that year and then to Region Administrative Sergeant in 2019 where he has remained until this recent promotion to Captain and Director of the DNR Game Warden Academy at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth, GA.
