ABAC’s Great American Golden Jubilee Set to Light Up July 4 Celebration in Tifton *

TIFTON, Ga. — This Independence Day, history and hometown pride will come together in a big way as Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College hosts a celebration decades in the making.
The Great American Golden Jubilee, scheduled for July 4 at the Georgia Museum of Agriculture, will mark two major milestones: the museum’s 50th anniversary and the nation’s 250th birthday celebration, known as America250. 
Organizers are promising an evening packed with family fun, live music, food, fireworks and a look back at five decades of preserving Georgia’s agricultural heritage.
The free community event will transform the Georgia Museum of Agriculture into a festival ground where visitors can enjoy everything from train rides and historical exhibits to games, food vendors and concerts.
“This is a special moment to come together, honor our shared heritage, and celebrate the spirit that defines both our nation and this region,” said ABAC President Tracy Brundage.
The Georgia Museum of Agriculture, one of South Georgia’s most recognizable historical attractions, opened in 1975 and has spent the last half-century preserving and sharing the stories of Georgia’s rural past. The museum’s historic village, working farm and educational exhibits have welcomed generations of visitors while serving as a living reminder of the traditions that shaped the region. 
The July 4 celebration will officially kick off at 4 p.m. with an opening ceremony and ribbon-cutting at the museum entrance. Throughout the afternoon, guests can explore a special retrospective exhibit highlighting the museum’s 50-year history, take train rides, visit the historic drug store and country store, and enjoy activities designed for children and families.
One of the afternoon’s highlights will be the unveiling of a new mural on the exterior wall of the historic drug store.
As the evening continues, the festivities will shift to the main stage where singer-songwriter Andy Thomas will perform beginning at 6:30 p.m., followed by South Georgia favorites Derrick Dove & the Peacekeepers at 8 p.m.
The night will conclude with a fireworks spectacular beginning at 9:30 p.m.
Tifton Mayor Julie Smith said the event represents more than a Fourth of July celebration.
“Celebrating the Fourth of July in Tifton with ABAC, the Georgia Museum of Agriculture, community partners, friends and visitors is the best way to spend this important date in the history of our country and our community,” Smith said. “We look forward to an incredible event that will help set the stage for celebrations for years to come.”
Visitors seeking a premium experience may purchase a VIP meal package for $40 per person. The package includes a catered meal prepared by ABAC Dining, access to air-conditioned seating areas and reserved concert seating. Children younger than 3 may attend free with a paying adult.
Parking gates open at 3:30 p.m., and shuttle service will be available beginning at 4 p.m.
The celebration is supported by Tifton Tourism, the City of Tifton, Tift County Government, Legacy Land Services, Watkins & Associates and other community sponsors.
The Great American Golden Jubilee is part of a growing series of events taking place nationwide as communities begin commemorating the approaching 250th anniversary of the United States. The national America250 observance culminates in 2026, marking two and a half centuries since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
