Valdosta Police Seek Public’s Help Locating Stolen Porsche 911

By Carol A. Gasser Moore

VALDOSTA, Lowndes County, Georgia – The Valdosta Police Department (VPD) is asking for the community’s assistance in locating a rare, vintage sports car stolen from a local residence.

According to authorities, the theft occurred sometime between May 22 and May 27 from a home in the 2200 block of Brighton Place. The vehicle — a black 1985 wide-body Porsche 911 Carrera — was reportedly taken while on a trailer.

The stolen Porsche is a distinctive model, notable for its large “whale tail” rear wing. It bears a Georgia license plate numbered 243YFA, and its vehicle identification number (VIN) is WP0AB091XFS121836.

Police are treating the theft as an active investigation and believe that the trailer method used in the heist may indicate premeditation or specialized knowledge of the vehicle.

A photo provided by VPD shows a similar “whale tail” spoiler feature, commonly found on modified or racing versions of the Porsche 911 Carrera from the 1980s — a car highly prized among collectors and enthusiasts.

How to Help

Anyone with information on the location of the vehicle or suspicious activity in the Brighton Place area around the time of the theft is urged to contact Detective Jordan with the Valdosta Police Department.

Anonymous tips can also be submitted via the department’s crime tip line or online.

Context for Local Residents

This incident follows a growing concern in Valdosta over vehicle-related crimes, including a spike in car break-ins reported since the beginning of the year. While most of those cases have involved firearms and unlocked vehicles, the theft of a rare Porsche represents a more sophisticated and potentially targeted operation.

Residents are reminded to stay vigilant, secure their vehicles and property, and report suspicious activity promptly to law enforcement.
