BRUNSWICK, Glynn County, Georgia – The Port of Brunswick continues to strengthen its status as a premier hub for vehicle imports and exports on the U.S. East Coast with the arrival of Sallaum Lines, a leading global Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) ocean carrier.
On Thursday, April 10, Sallaum Lines officially launched service at Colonel’s Island Terminal in Brunswick with the arrival of its vessel Silver Soul. The Switzerland-based carrier’s expansion into Georgia marks a strategic move to enhance its Atlantic service network, connecting Europe, North and South America, and Africa.
“We’re thrilled to make our first call to Colonel’s Island in Brunswick,” said Sam Awad, Vice President of Sales and Operations for Sallaum Lines. “This expansion aligns with our global growth strategy and demonstrates our commitment to delivering reliable and sustainable services to our clients across key international markets.”
The Port of Brunswick, operated by the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA), has steadily grown in prominence as one of the nation’s busiest ports for automotive and heavy machinery cargo. Sallaum Lines is now the latest in a series of global shipping companies to choose Brunswick as a strategic logistics hub.
“We are excited to welcome Sallaum Lines to our growing roster of international shipping partners,” said GPA Chief Commercial Officer Flavio Batista. “Their presence will further enhance Brunswick’s competitiveness as a critical gateway for RoRo services along the U.S. East Coast.”
With more than 4 million Car Equivalent Units (CEUs) shipped globally since its founding in 2010, Sallaum Lines operates a fleet of eight modern Pure Car & Truck Carriers (PCTCs) and plans to expand by adding six new vessels by 2027. The company has committed to achieving zero carbon emissions by 2050 as part of its long-term sustainability goals.
Brunswick’s Colonel’s Island Terminal is already undergoing significant upgrades to accommodate growing RoRo volumes. In March, GPA broke ground on a new 640,000-square-foot auto processing facility and is preparing to add additional berth space and vehicle storage.
Georgia Ports officials say the arrival of Sallaum Lines reflects the success of Brunswick’s infrastructure investment and its role in supporting U.S. automotive supply chains.
“Our ports continue to attract top-tier carriers by offering world-class facilities, efficient operations, and unmatched connectivity,” said GPA Executive Director Griff Lynch in a recent statement. “The momentum we’re building at Brunswick is directly tied to our commitment to meeting the future demands of the global shipping industry.”
GPA’s long-term vision includes a $4.2 billion investment over the next decade to increase cargo capacity across its ports. The broader plan includes new terminal developments, infrastructure upgrades, and sustainability initiatives. Georgia’s ports support more than 609,000 jobs and contribute more than $171 billion in revenue annually to the state’s economy.
As the Port of Brunswick expands its global reach, the addition of Sallaum Lines is yet another signal that Georgia is becoming a dominant force in international trade logistics—especially in the automotive sector.
