Two Burglary Arrests by VPD on Cranford Avenue

By Carol A. Gasser Moore

VALDOSTA, Lowndes County, Georgia – The 300 block of West Cranford Avenue was the location of two burglary arrests in Valdosta on Saturday.  According to the Valdosta Police Department (VPD), they received an E911 call from a citizen about 8:00 p.m.  The citizen reported that a U-Haul truck was at his mother’s Cranford Avenue residence.  The caller identified that he observed people loading a truck with property from the his mother’s house.

VPD Officers were dispatched to the residence.  Their report indicates that they made immediately made contact with Clint Austin Wilson (40) of Lowndes County, and Lacey Musgrove (41) also of Lowndes County. The pair were loading items from inside the house into the U-Haul.  Musgrove told officers that she had permission to remove items from the house.

As the investigation continued, officers then began to speak with the victim, who was the E911 caller, along with other family members of the victim.  Through their investigation, VPD officers confirmed that no one knew who Wilson and Musgrove were.  The officers also confirmed that no one had given Wilson or Musgrave permission to go into the house and take any property.  As a part of their investigation, the officers located items indicative of narcotics use inside the U-Haul.

The VPD officers arrested Wilson and Musgrove.  They were transported to Lowndes County Jail.  Both individuals have been charged with

  • burglary (felony),
  • possession of tools for the commission of a crime (felony), and
  • possession of drug-related objects.

Because Wilson provided his brother’s name at the time of his arrest, he received an additional charge of

  • giving a false name and date of birth (misdemeanor).

“Thankfully this citizen did an outstanding job watching his mother’s property,” said VPD Chief Leslie Manahan.  “The minute he saw something wrong he called E911, and our officers were able to get there quickly, thwarting the burglary from occurring.”
