Cook County Man Charged with Arson

CHASERVILLE, COOK COUNTY, Georgia – The Cook County Fire Department (CCFD) has released information about an arson suspect, who has been taken into custody and charged with arson in Cook County. The CCFD states that they have responded to four (4) separate Chaserville Community fires recently. The fires started occurring around Thursday, July 18th and since that time.
As yet, the suspect has not been publicly identified. The CCFD states that there are other charges and that they are pending.
In a post of the Cook County Fire Department’s Facebook page the following appreciation was posted: “I want to thank Sheriff Doug Hanks and his staff at the Cook County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), local Agents with the Georgia State Fire Marshals Office (GSFMO), and members of the Cook County Fire Department (CCFD) for their joint efforts and persistence in the apprehension of this suspect.”
The post also indicated that the CCFD’s investigation is still an active investigation. The CCFD asks that if there is any citizen with any information pertaining to these fires, please contact the Cook County Sheriff’s Office at 229-896-7471, or Chief Johnny West with the Cook County Fire Department at 229-230-1239.
The CCFD indicates that they will release more information in the coming days.
