VALDOSTA, Ga. – Detectives are investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Friday night.
On April 24, 2026, at 11:35 p.m., Valdosta Police Officers responded to the area of the 1000 block of East Gordon Street after numerous citizens called E911 to report hearing multiple gunshots. When officers arrived and began to walk the area, they located a 17-year-old male lying in the yard of a residence in the 900 block of East Gordon Street with a gunshot wound to his torso. A rifle was found close to where the 17-year-old was lying. 
A flurry of E911 calls that reported hearing multiple gunshots in the 1000 block of East Gordon Street led to the discovery of a 17-year-old male suffering from a bullet wound in the yard of an East Gordon Street residence.
Police found a rifle close to where the 17-year-old was lying.
Officers provided First Aid until Valdosta Fire Department and South Georgia Medical Center Emergency Medical Services crews arrived. The teen was transported to South Georgia Medical Center, then later taken to a hospital in Florida for further treatment.
While other officers were assisting theyoungster with the gunshot wound, two men 19 and 20 years old who are residents of a house in the 1000 block of East Gordon Street approached police to report that their house had been shot at multiple times. No one was injured at this residence, but officers found several bullet holes in the side of the house.
Detectives and Crime Scene Personnel responded to the scene to collect evidence and investigate the incident. Detectives found that the rifle that was located near the 17-year-old gunshot victim had been reported stolen from a vehicle the day before.
The 17-year-old is listed in stable but critical condition.
This case is still under active investigation by detectives.
