LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. – The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department is hailing a Valdosta property restoration company for going above and beyond to repair a severely water damaged and still partially flooded home of a 77-year-old Lowndes man.
The cost of the work totaled an estimated $60,000 but SERVEPRO of Valdosta, a national company with over 3,280 locations across the United States, did the work free of charge, according to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department.

“It’s businesses and people like this in our community that make our community better than the rest,” said Sheriff Ashley Paulk in a press statement April 20.
Responding to a call from the Sheriff’s Office after deputies found the elderly man living in the badly water-damaged dwelling, SERVEPRO went to work repairing the damage and ridding the house of standing water found throughout the home.
Deputies said the man’s house was previously flooded and never cleaned up.
The house needed major repair, and the man had no one, or no way to repair it, deputies said.Theysaid that without a second thought, SERVEPRO jumped at the chance to help. After looking at the damage, the companyput the job at about $60,000 but the cost was of no consequence to the restoration specialists.
Sheriff Paulk personally thank SERVEPRO of Valdosta.
SERVEPRO said on its website that the companyhas served many families and businesses who went throughHurricanes and tornadoes in recent years.
