Keeping Georgians Informed – Senator Reverend Ralph Warnock (GA)

GEORGIA – On Thursday, June 6, members of U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock’s team will be in Doraville, Georgia for the latest Community Resource Connection Day (CRCD). CRCD is designed to address resource disparities and enhance community well-being in Georgia. In collaboration with local officials and community partners, members of the Senator’s staff will be ready to assist residents with federal agency inquiries and help cut through red tape to get answers on their issues regarding Medicare and Medicaid, Social Security, veterans and service members benefits, taxes, passports, visas, and more. The event will take place Thursday, June 6 from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the Forest Fleming Arena.

“As a United States Senator for all Georgians, providing Georgians with quality, accessible, and personable constituent services will always be a top priority for me. We are ready to serve you and your families, and we hope to see you there,” said Senator Reverend Warnock.

The event aims to bridge the gap between federal resources and communities across the state, as well as foster a sense of unity by providing a platform for residents to connect, share experiences, and support each other. Senator Warnock’s team will gather insights on community needs and concerns to inform policy decisions and advocate for positive change, all while educating residents on navigating government systems and accessing resources independently. The flagship event offers a one-day opportunity for residents to access resources, and attend educational workshops and presentations. For planning purposes, this event is closed press.

Washington D.C. — On Monday, U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock joined fellow supporters of the John Lewis and Lillian Miles Lewis Foundation at its annual Good Trouble gala and celebrated the lives and legacies of the late Congressman and his wife, who were both parishioners of Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church where the Senator serves as Senior Pastor. This year’s event marked the third annual celebration by the Foundation in honor of the Lewises and supports its year-round efforts to ensure ordinary citizens have the tools they need to create their own version of ‘Good Trouble’.

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA), a member of the Senate Aging committee, highlighted the urgent need to support veteran caregivers and the burdens veterans and their families face when the nation’s caregiving infrastructure fails during a joint Wednesday committee hearing with members of the Aging and Veterans’ Affairs committees. The hearing, titled Heroes At Home: Improving Services For Veterans and Their Caregivers, featured testimony from Pennsylvania veteran Peter Townsend and Montanan veteran caregiver Hannah Nieskens, as well as other witnesses with experience in veterans caregiving and veterans advocacy.

“[The witnesses] paint a picture of a fractured system where the constituent parts do not talk seamlessly to one another, clearly there’s room for improvement in addressing the need for continuity of care, so veterans don’t fall between the tracks,” said Senator Revered Warnock. “Thank you so very much for your witness and your testimony, I think [it] brings this kind of issue into clear focus and helps us see the work that we have got to do.”

Senator Warnock has long worked to strengthen support for our nation’s veterans and caregivers. In March, Senators Warnock and Sherrod Brown introduced legislation to expand and protect the workplace rights of VA health care workers. In 2022, Senator Warnock helped to pass the bipartisan PACT Act, the largest expansion of veterans’ health benefits in decades. Additionally, the Senator has long championed efforts to strengthen the health care workforce, including securing $746 million to address health care workforce shortages in Georgia.
