Lakeland’s July 5th Bash Promises Small-Town Charm, Big-Time Fun

LAKELAND, Georgia – Get ready for an unforgettable celebration of stars, stripes, and Southern summer fun as Lakeland gears up to host its annual Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, July 5 — and the whole community is invited.

Sponsored by the Lakeland Downtown Development Authority, the festivities kick off at 4:00 PM at the Lakeland Farmers Market and promise something for everyone, whether you’re five or ninety-five.

Expect toe-tapping live music, a lineup of local food vendors serving everything from barbecue to snow cones, family-friendly games, a bustling marketplace of handmade crafts and goods — and, for the adventurous, giant waterslides to help you beat the July heat.

But the real heart of the event arrives at 7:00 PM, when the beloved Lakeland Golf Cart Parade rolls out in classic small-town style. Decked-out carts — patriotic, playful, and sometimes downright hilarious — will cruise through downtown, turning heads and winning hearts.

And finally, just after sunset, eyes will turn skyward for a fireworks show that promises to dazzle. Expect bursts of color, sparkle, and that unmistakable boom as Lakeland celebrates America’s birthday in the best way it knows how: together.

“Lakeland’s Independence Day celebration is always a highlight of the year,” said a representative from the Downtown Development Authority. “It’s a chance to celebrate not just the Fourth of July, but the spirit of our town — family, freedom, and community pride.”

• Lawn chairs or picnic blankets

• Your golf cart if you plan to participate (patriotic decorations encouraged!)

• Swimsuits or towels for the kids

• Appetite for fun (and funnel cake)
