Attempt to sneak saw into prison sets off long distance high-speed Pearson police chase

PEARSON, Atkinson County, Georgia – A Warner Robins man is behind bars after authorities foiled his attempt to sneak a saw and other contraband into Ware State Prison.
Police say the man was a drug suspect who roared his vehicle into Pearson at 118 M.P.H. around 3 a.m. on Sunday, March 23, leading Pearson police on a high-speed, multi-county chase before crashing into a vehicle in Tifton.
A saw the suspect, Taquez Mentrae Moore(43) of Warner Robins. wanted to sneak into Ware State Prison was among items confiscated from the wreckage of the vehicle crashed by Moore, according to Pearson police.
In addition to the saw, police seized drugs, drills andmore thantwo dozen cell phones, Pearson police said in a press release. Police said thecontraband was stuffed into two duffel bags.
The crash occurred after Moore lost control of his vehicle. Moore fled from the wreckage on foot, but police caught up and arrested Moore in short order, Pearson police Chief Tanner Farmer said in the press release.
Pearson police had a heads-up that a suspect who they say was spotted on his way to deliver “contraband” to Ware State Prison was heading their way. AGeorgia Department of Corrections drug sniffing K-9 alerted police to thecontraband, police said.
The Pearson police officer on duty clocked Moore at 118 M.P.H. as the suspect hit the city limits, police said.
The ensuing chase in which the officer flashed blue lights and sounded a siren lasted 40 miles and crossed multiple jurisdictions, according to police.
“Due to the work of all agencies involved, damage and injuries were kept at a minimum,” Chief Farmer said.
Items confiscated from the vehicle Moore crashed were:
26 cell phones;
20 Schedule 2 pills;
240 grams of THC;
Seven grams of MDMA;
A razor blade;
A saw
