UPDATE: 3 suspects in ASU Homecoming Mass Shooting are killed in traffic accident

Albany, DOUGHERTY COUNTY, Georgia – Three people: Jakwon Hill (18), Zion McClendon (20), and Quantavious Vicks (18) have died. A Georgia State Patrol (GSP) report states, “Per Albany PD preliminary information indicates that the deceased subjects, along with the firearms are believed to be suspects involved in the Albany State University shooting that occurred [Oct. 19] where 1 person was killed, and 4 were injured by gunfire.”
The same GSP report reveals that the three men, who are ASU shooting suspects, failed to yield to troopers. The GSP troopers were working to conduct a traffic stop after seeing a white Mercedes Benz driving 75 miles per hour in a 40-mile-per-hour zone.
Information provided by Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler, CFSP, indicates that just before 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 27, the vehicle in which the three men were riding crossed the Magnolia Street and Broad Avenue railroad track in Albany. When it crossed, the car became airborne, hit a tree then a telephone pole. As a result, the vehicle disintegrated into sections and the car’s three passengers were ejected.
The driver was still in the driver’s seat and alive when the troopers found him at the scene. The driver had received head and facial injuries and was taken to the hospital. At the time of this writing, the driver’s condition had not been released.
GSP officers identified that the car’s three passengers were dead at the accident scene.
Several bystanders have shared that they saw the awful catastrophic scenario. The sound of the Mercedes Benz hitting a large tree near the corner is what awakened many in the accident area. The GSP troopers were said to be chasing the car that crashed near the Albany corner of South Magnolia Street and Edgerly Avenue. Georgia law provides law enforcement with a measure of subjectivity in their decision to become involved in a high speed chase.
The deceased subjects from the accident – Hill, McClendon, and Vicks – are thought to be suspects involved in the Albany State University shooting that occurred [Oct. 19] where 1 person was killed, and 4 were injured by gunfire. The incident occurred during the Albany State University Homecoming.
Both investigations are ongoing and more information will be provided when available.
