McKinnon Arrested for Burglary of Buddy’s Home Furnishings

VALDOSTA, Lowndes County, Georgia – Janytra McKinnon (24) , a Valdosta resident, has been arrested for the Tuesday, October 8th burglary of a Valdosta Business.  The burglary occurred about 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday night. Valdosta Police Department officers received a burglary alarm activation call and responded to Buddy’s Home Furnishings in the 2000 block of Marion Street.

 

When VPD officers arrived on the call’s scene, they found the window to the business shattered.  They immediately began their scene investigation and located drops of blood near the broken window.

Officers located Janytra McKinnon was located standing in the area.  As officer spoke to McKinnon, they realized that McKinnon had several small cuts on her leg and was bleeding.  Officers also found a bag that McKinnon was carrying.  When the bag was searched, officers found property belonging to Buddy’s Home Furnishings.

McKinnon was taken to SGMC-Valdosta and treated at the hospital for cuts to her leg.  After she was released from the hospital, she was arrested and transported to Lowndes County Jail.

Janytra McKinnon has been charged with

  • burglary 2nd degree (felony),
  • providing false name and date of birth (misdemeanor), and
  • possession of drug-related objects (misdemeanor).

The Lanier County News (LCN) has learned that since McKinnon was arrested, the VPD has learned that Janytra continued using a false name of a relative.  She used the name Janay, instead of her own name, Janytra.

As a result of continuing her use of a false name after her arrest, Janytra McKinnon is now facing additional charges.

After her arrest, VPD officers learned that McKinnon also had an active arrest warrant unrelated to this case.
