Charlotte Collins Quitman, GA 1934 – 2024

Charlotte Collins, 89 of Quitman passed away Monday, January 8, 2024 at Archbold Medical Center. Charlotte was born December 21, 1934 in Quitman to the late Douglas & Tennys Ingram Knight. She was a life long member of Beulah Baptist Church where she will be fondly remembered as the church pianist since her teenage years. Charlotte enjoyed traveling and loved her family, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, as well as her church family. She taught third grade for many years and was lovingly remembered by people she would see on the street. She taught at  Westbrook School and Morven Elementary School, where she retired. Charlotte’s real passion was working with the Slavic Missionary Outreach to help orphans and reach individuals for Christ.

Survivors include her daughters, June (Phil) Furney of Quitman, and Donna Whitney of Lake City, FL; grandchildren, Matthew (Sarah) Furney, Shannon (Mitchell) Burton, and Billy (Jessica) Whitney; great grandchildren, Joshua Furney, Hayden Burton, Eli Burton, Cora Whitney, and Kaia Whitney; brother, Zack (Bobbie) Knight of TX, sister, June (Pat) Renfroe of FL; sister-in-law, Jane Knight of Athens, GA; and her Ukrainian sons, Paul, Alex, Roman, Ghenna, and Sergey. Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Collins; brother, Wade Knight; and son-in-law, Steve Whitney.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Beulah Baptist Church with Pastor David Paulk, and Pastor Doug Sparks officiating. Interment will follow at Columbia Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Maxwell – Purvis Funeral Home.
