Serious hit and run incident in Albany update

Albany, GA – On July 3, 2023 officers responded to the 1500 Blk of N Maple St after a 9-year=old female was struck by a 2019 Nissan Sentra. The vehicle fled the scene. Witnesses stated a group of children were crossing the road when the 9-year-old ran into the road and was struck. The 9-year-old later succumbed to her injuries.

The 16-year-old driver has been charged with homicide by vechicle 1st degree, hit and run, and learner’s license violation.
