Lanier County Deputies Respond To Calls Of A Shooting Victim

Lakeland, GA On Sunday, April 2, 2023 deputies responded to the area of Empire Church Road and Poplar Springs Road after several persons called 9-1-1 reporting that an individual has been shot. Deputies arrived to find the victim, a 51 year old man had been transported by Lanier County Emergency Medical Services to the main campus of South Georgia Medical Center. The victim was treated for his injuries and continues to be in stable but critical condition.

Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene and began an investigation which included the collection of evidence and interviewing witnesses. Investigators learned of an altercation between two parties and one of the individuals was shot by the other.

At this time, no arrest has been made and the investigation is ongoing. The names of the involved parties are not being released at this time, due to the fact that no one has been arrested.
