LAKELAND, Georgia – Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the Lanier County Centennial Committee—in an ongoing effort to continue monthly Centennial Celebration activities in a COVID world—is sponsoring a Charity Silent Auction to benefit local charities and a to-be-determined culminating Community Centennial Shindig.
The Charity Silent Auction, billed as a Facebook Event, will take place on the Lakeland-Lanier Chamber of Commerce Facebook page. Online bidding will commence at 12 Noon on Sunday, February 7th and conclude at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, February 9th.
Generous donors have contributed an array of would-be Valentine’s gifts for men and women including ten beautifully-themed baskets full of items. One of these is a deluxe comfort package, featuring a number of pampering and relaxation products including a full massage compliments of Judy Bridges. Another basket is a men’s BBQ basket, full of condiments, an apron, grilling tools and a cooler. Another features sports memorabilia and another is a Centennial basket, featuring local and Lanier County Centennial items. In addition, there are six baskets packed with useful indoor and outdoor items, compliments of Slash Pine EMC.
Other goods and services to be auctioned include an additional one-hour massage, original pieces of Berry Ivey pottery, a purse, a locally-handcrafted cutting board and a hammock chair, provided by Watson Pools and Patio.
Anyone desiring to preview the actual items can visit the Lakeland-Lanier Chamber Welcome Center between the hours of 10-5:00; pictures and descriptions of the featured auction merchandise can also be previewed on the Lakeland-Lanier Chamber of Commerce Website as they are released.
Visitors can also begin bidding on the auction’s items in-person during regular Welcome Center hours on Thursday, February 4th and Friday, February 5th. If any visitor bids on an item during the in-person preview, his/her bid will become the starting bid for that item at the start of the online auction at noon on Sunday, February 7th.
