Daycare Employee Arrested as Investigation Continues Into Incident Involving 3-Year-Old at Nashville Child Care Center *

NASHVILLE, Ga. — The Lanier County News has confirmed that Debora Schlueter was arrested Thursday morning, July 16, at about 9:45 a.m. as authorities continue investigating an incident involving a 3-year-old child at the Small World Education Center in Nashville.

According to jail records, Debora Schlueter was arrested by Officer Kyle Yarbrough at approximately 9:46 a.m. Thursday, July 16. She remains in custody with no bond listed.
The booking record lists the charge as “Pending Warrants for Criminal Change.” The jail system does not currently provide additional details regarding the underlying allegations, and authorities have not yet released formal charging documents explaining the offense.
The arrest follows reports that the Nashville Police Department is investigating allegations involving a young child at the daycare facility.
A former co-worker’s of Schlueter spoke to the Lanier County News and stated that she had heard about several parent complaints about Schlueter, but had not had not observed Schlueter’s work with young students or had personal problems working with Schlueter.
WALB-TV has reported that a woman identifying herself as the child’s mother posted on Facebook that she received two videos allegedly recorded inside the daycare.
According to the television station, the mother wrote that one video allegedly shows her older son being restrained by a teacher before being slapped in the face, while another video allegedly shows her younger son being grabbed and pulled by his arms.
The Lanier County News has not independently verified the authenticity of the videos or the allegations contained in the social media post.
The mother told WALB she filed a police report Wednesday, and an arrest was made Thursday.
The Nashville Police Department has confirmed only that the matter remains an active and ongoing investigation. Because of the active investigation, police said records are not yet available for release.
The Lanier County News is also working to obtain information from the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) regarding whether the agency has opened an investigation or taken any regulatory action involving the daycare.
Additional information, including the formal warrants and charging documents, is expected to become available through the court system as the case progresses.
