Homerville soldier dies while stationed in Texas

FORT CAVAZOS, Texas (WALB) – A soldier and Homerville native has died while being stationed at a fort in Texas.

Private First Class KeShawn Xavier Crumidy is originally from Homerville. The 22-year-old graduated from Clinch County High School in 2020.

He was pronounced dead on March 11 after being stationed at Fort Cavazos as a Unit Supply Specialist, a family member told WALB. It is currently unknown if he died on or off the base, however, Fort Cavazos has confirmed his death.

His cause of death is under investigation by the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation, the 1st Cavalry Division and Texas authorities.
