Lt. Governor Burt Jones and Speaker Jon Burns Hold Joint Press Conference on Tax Credits

ATLANTA | Today, Lt. Governor Burt Jones and Speaker of the House Jon Burns issued a statement on legislative proposals addressing Georgia’s tax credits.

“Georgians deserve to have transparency and a clear picture of how their taxpayer dollars are being spent, while knowing which industries receive tax breaks and in what amounts,” said Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones. “I want to thank Speaker Burns, Chairmen Hufstetler and Blackmon, and all of the members of the subcommittee who reviewed our tax incentive programs in 2023. As a result of their work, the Georgia General Assembly will have the opportunity to consider a tax reform package that lowers taxes for Georgia families and businesses, provides more transparency, and tightens requirements for several major incentive programs.”

“The House has been laser-focused on being good stewards of taxpayer money and putting more money back into hardworking Georgians’ pockets, and today’s announcement builds on those efforts,” said Speaker of the House Jon Burns. “We will continue working to increase transparency, accountability, and efficiency in government, ensuring that any tax credit issued has a strong ROI for the taxpayer, helps create jobs, and invests wisely in our local communities. I want to thank the Lieutenant Governor, Chairman Blackmon, and Chairman Hufstetler for their work on this important issue as we work together to continue making Georgia the best state for business.”
