Brooks County: Bridge replacement project prompts closure on DeVane Road starting Jan. 3, 2024, detour to be installed

QUITMAN, Georgia — Contractors with a TIA-funded project replacing a bridge on Devane Road near its intersection with US 221/US 84/SR 38/ Thomasville Road, east of Quitman in Brooks County, will install a full roadway closure at the construction site starting Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024. Drivers who use Devane Road will be instructed to take a detour route.

The detour route will involve taking SR 76/North Washington Street in Quitman and SR 76/East Courtland Avenue. Signs will be posted throughout the area alerting motorists to the closure and directing them through the detour. The closure and detour are expected to remain in effect until mid-summer, 2024. Contractors have already set up message boards on Devane Road in advance of the closure to notify local and commercial drivers.
