Bulldogs win Homecoming 10-0 over MCA

No. 8 McIntosh County Academy fell 10-0 in a low-scoring affair against Lanier County on Friday at Roquemore Stadium in Lakeland.

The Buccaneers entered the contest ranked No. 1 in the classification in points allowed at 4.7 points per game, while the Bulldogs ranked No. 2 at 5.7 points per game, and both teams looked the part in a contest that featured a scoreless second half.

The Buccaneers looked to start another rally late in the first half when it appeared to have hit on its own long pass down inside the 10-yard line, but the play was called back for an illegal procedure, and MCA failed to get much more going offensively, especially with running back Earnest McIntosh out with an injury.

McIntosh came in a little dinged up, and Lanier County came in laser-focused. Lanier County’s  defensive line was really good tonight and gave McIntosh a lot of problems.”

McIntosh also dropped a screen pass that could have gone for a big gain late in the game, but the Buccaneers won’t hang their heads. Instead, they’ll use the loss to improve as they prepare to go back on the road to take on Bradwell Institute next week.

McIntosh is  pretty banged up. They had a lot of guys playing, and had a lot of guys step up, so I think their going to be better for it in the long run.
