Donald Jerome Hendley Valdosta, GA 1947 – 2023
Donald Jerome Hendley, age 75, of Valdosta, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at his residence. He was born on October 25, 1947, in Nashville, Georgia to the late Howell Hendley and Virginia (Luke) Hendley. Donald served his country in the United States Army and was a decorated combat veteran in Vietnam. He owned and operated Hendley Custom Cabinet Shop and was known for his skilled workmanship. He enjoyed fishing, working in his yard, and was an avid golfer. Above all, he loved his family but especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were his pride and joy. Along with his birth parents, he is preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Hendley; daughter, Dana Cherie Reaves; grandson, Parker Donald Hendley; and a sister, Patty Karen Hendley.
Survivors include his daughter, Lori Voigt (Britt) of Valdosta, Georgia; daughter, Peggy Hart of Valdosta, Georgia; son, Donald Jerome Hendley II of Valdosta, Georgia; son-in-law, Stan Reaves, Jr.; grandchildren: Stanley Reaves III (Amber), Austin Reaves (Leslie), Turner Voigt (Jordan), Luke Voigt (Amber), Caleb Voigt, Brittany Carter (Noah), Noah Hart (Corinne), Landon Hart, Lauren Elizabeth Hendley; fourteen great grandchildren and one on the way; Mother of his children, Faye Hendley of Valdosta, Georgia; brother, Robert Hendley (Linda) of Fruitland, Georgia; brother, Paul Hendley (Laurie) of Inverness, Florida; sister, Deborah Walker (Ken) of Carrollton, Georgia; sister, Brenda Bailey of Valdosta, Georgia; longtime friend, Margaret Langdale of Valdosta, Georgia; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 19, 2023, in the Chapel of Music Funeral Services, Valdosta with burial to follow in Webb Hendley Cemetery, Berrien County, Georgia. Family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at the funeral home.
