Lavenia Walls Kees Quitman, GA 1929 – 2023

Lavenia Walls Kees – 94 Of Quitman, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Archbold Medical Center, Thomasville. She was born on January 22, 1929 in Heard County, Georgia to the late Elbert Walls and Ester (Webb) Walls. She earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Georgia in 1949. She was a proud Alumni of UGA and life-long Georgia Bulldogs fan. She spent her entire career as the auditor at Valdosta Railway in Clyattville. She was an avid reader, writer and enjoyed writing poetry. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and offered her accounting services to many with no payment in return. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of First Baptist Church of Quitman. She had a great sense of humor and was known for her vibrant personality and negotiating skills. She will always be remembered as a strong, loving mother and grandmother. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin “Mike” Myles Kees; grandson, Michael Stephen Kees, II; two brothers: C.J. Walls and Fred Walls.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Humphrey (Keith) of Valdosta, Georgia; son, Michael Stephen “Steve” Kees (Dreama) of Greenville, South Carolina; son, Thomas “Joe” Kees of Quitman, Georgia; grandchildren: Michael Taylor (Kim), Millie Jordan (Patrick), Jacob Kees (Kayla), McKenna Kees; great grandchildren: Bryce Taylor, Madison Taylor, Morgan Taylor, Walt Jordan, Beau Jordan, Josephine Jordan, Michael Stephen Kees III, Markiah Kees; sister, Virginia Lester of Quitman, Georgia; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 30, 2023 in the chapel of Music Funeral Services, Valdosta.
