John (J.D.) Demaranville, 67, of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at his home following a period of declining health. He was born in Albany, New York on March 28, 1955. J.D. was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Vietnam conflict and was of the Baptist faith. He was known locally for his involvement with dart tournaments and was a very proficient player of the game. He was proud of his service to his country and was very patriotic, loved to watch wrestling, and was part of the sisters cruising group. Above all, he was a great husband, father and grandfather who was a strong pillar and provider for his family.
Mr. Demaranville is survived by his wife, Shirley Diane Demaranville of Valdosta; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Crystal Demaranville of Tallahassee, Florida, and Matthew and Amy Demaranville of Statenville, Georgia; two daughters and a son-in-law, Crystal Rogers, and Stacey and Chris Downing all of Hahira; 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Diane Demaranville of Albany, New York, and Joe and Connie Demaranville of North Carolina, Peggy (Rich) Burnash from Clyattville; two special vacationing sisters, Debera Childs of Clyattville, and Tammy Kirkland of Ft. Myers, Florida; numerous nieces and nephew. He was preceded by his father, Donald Demaranville; his mom, Ernestine Kirkland, and his father-in-law, Charles Kirkland; a brother, Raymond Childs, and a nephew, Christopher Williams.
Services for J. D. Demaranville will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023 in the chapel of the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home with Rev. James Guthrie officiating.
