LPD Requesting Help With Armed Robbery Suspect: Marcus “Basim” Jones

LAKELAND, Georgia – Lakeland Police Department (LPD) Captain Angel Morris has notified the Lanier County News that LPD needs our community’s help. A E-911 call came into Tri-County E-911 Services that an armed robbery had occurred at Lakeland’s C-Mart Gas Station. The LPD responded about 10:28 p.m. on Sunday, January 29th to the store which is located at 73 S. Oak St.
The armed robbery suspect entered the gas station with a handgun just as two employees were closing the store. The offender began striking the employees with his handgun before exiting the store with more than two thousand dollars ($2,000+) in cash.
The two (2) injured C-Mart employees and one (1) civilian were taken to South Georgia Medical Center (SGMC) – Lanier campus. All were rendered treatment for minor injuries.
The Lakeland Police Department has identified the armed robbery suspect to be Marcus Lamar Jones (A.K.A. “Basim”).
Jones is wanted on one (1) count of armed robbery and three (3) counts of aggravated assault.
Jones also has active warrants for Probation Violations and was last seen in Homerville.
Marcus “Basim” Jones is considered to be armed and dangerous.
The public is being informed that if a area citizen sees Jones, “DO NOT MAKE CONTACT!”
