City Council Meetings Timeliness Seems to be Ending:  Attorney Coleman’s Schedule Creating Problems

LAKELAND, Georgia – Former Lakeland City Attorney Tim Tanner resigned a few short months ago after three years of service.  Mayor Bill Darsey insisted on contracting with Albany located Tommy Coleman, who has long specialized in municipal law and is in high demand.  The Lakeland City Council knew little about Coleman, except that he was recommended by Mayor Darsey.  They approved hiring Coleman.  Their decision has led to a number of day and time changes for our local Lakeland City Council.  The changes seem to be eroding both city council members’ ability to attend the council’s meetings and has hampered citizen involvement as well.
