Jashun Wilkins Wanted in Valdosta Teen’s shooting

VALDOSTA, Georgia – Jashun Wilkins (17) is sought by the Valdosta Police Department, who is asking for area citizen’s help. Another 17-year-old was walking toward his school bus near Weaver and Laura streets in Valdosta, when he was shot about 7:30 A.M. on Monday (September 26) morning.
Citizens are said to have made an E911 call which indicated that a shooting had occurred. Valdosta Police Officers, detectives and Crime Scene Personnel responded to the call which indicated the incident occur in the 1400 block of Weaver Street in Valdosta. Citizens also called in updates. One update indicated that the shooting victim had boarded the school bus, after he was shot. The bus driver was driving him to the hospital nearby.
The school bus was stopped on Lankford Drive by Valdosta Police Officers, who located the victim on the bus and began administering first aid. Lowndes County Emergency Medical Services arrived shortly after and took over the victim’s medical care and transported him on to the hospital.
The victim suffered a gunshot wound to his torso.
After the VPD processed the case, they determined that Jashun Wilkins was the offender. Wilkins is wanted in connection to the shooting at a school bus stop.
By Tuesday, September 27, VPD obtained arrest warrants for Wilkins. He is charged with aggravated assault (felony) and possession of a firearm (felony). Jashun Wilkins is considered armed and dangerous. He is wanted on felony aggravated assault and firearm possession charges. Jashun is described as being 5′8” in height and weighing about 135 pounds.
