Using Their Voices, Citizens Challenge Newest County Department and Employee

By Carol A. Gasser Moore

LANIER COUNTY, Georgia – While there were no brightly painted protest signs at this week’s Lanier County Board of Commissioners (BOC) meeting on Monday, citizens filled the County Annex Suite B room and expressed themselves clearly to the Lanier County Board of Commissioners.  The primary statement was the common question of “What were you thinking when you created a Lanier County Wildfire Department for Wildland Fire Chief Zach Hallam and bought equipment with tax payers money?  Why is Hallam as a Lanier County employee allowed to use a county vehicle for personal use and run around with various friends at the expense of the taxpayers?”
