Carrie Sue Drew July 1, 1961 – February 2, 2021

HAHIRA, Georgia – Carrie Sue Hunnicutt Drew of Hahira, Georgia passed away suddenly at home after a brave battle with Scleroderma on Tuesday, February 2, 2021. Carrie was born July 1, 1961 at Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta, Georgia. Carrie grew up and lived in Hahira most of her life. She moved, in her early twenties, to Tallahassee, Florida, for 13 years before coming back home to Georgia.

Carrie was widely known for her running abilities. She ran all over Hahira and was often seen running from Hahira to Valdosta. Throughout her running endeavors, she won close to 100 5k and 10k races, and the Tallahassee Marathon twice. She also competed in the New York Marathon, placed in the top 100 women in the Boston Marathon twice, won the Disney Marathon, won two Ironman Triathlon mixed relays, won three Gulf Coast Triathlon mixed relays, and was the Florida Gulf Winds Track Club 1993 Runner of the Year. While living in Florida, Carrie got licensed for massage therapy and thrived in the masseuse profession. She stayed in massage therapy part time up until her diagnosis in 2020. Carrie joined her husband in the commercial beekeeping industry after their marriage. She loved working bees with her family and riding co-captain with Danny.She is preceded in death by her parents, Lt. Col. Joel P. and Jean M Hunnicutt. She is survived by her loving husband Danny Drew; stepchildren Danya Drew Miller and husband Shane; Jessie Drew and wife Deandra; Chad Drew and wife Adrienne; Chasidy D. Kenerly and husband Seth. Beloved step grandchildren Cindy, Daniel, Christian, Adalynn, Aubrey, Brendan, Hannah, and Mattie. Siblings Joel P. Hunnicutt and wife Lydia, J. Michael Hunnicutt, and wife Ashby; Melissa H. Stone and husband Buddy. Nieces and nephew Megan Hunnicutt, Caroline Hunnicutt, and Grant Hunnicutt. Life long best friend Missy Smith Kalish. Carrie never met a stranger was very loved by everyone she met.

Funeral services for Carrie will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday February 6, 2021 in the chapel of Music Funeral Services, 3831 N. Valdosta Rd., Valdosta, GA. Brother Paul Johnson will be officiating. The family will see friends from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at the funeral home. A private cremation will follow. For friends and family who are unable to attend services, a virtual option will be available on the Music Funeral Services Facebook page starting at 2:00 PM.
