Primary VS. General Elections 101:  Lanier County

LANIER COUNTY, GEORGIA – As the Lanier County News has actively engaged in talking to a broad spectrum of Lanier County voters, it has been struck by the fact that there appears to be confusion between two terms:  “primary election” and “general election”.  According to several sources checked by the Lanier County News, a “primary election” or often just “primary”, is the process by which voters can indicate their preference for their party’s candidate (Democrat, Independent, Libertarian, Republican, etc.).  “Our Primary Election for Lanier County will occur in June 2020,” said Josh Black, Lanier County Supervisor of Elections.
