Moody Night Maneuvers Attention Getting!

By Carol A. Gasser Moore

MOODY AFB, GEORGIA – “We have lived here over three years and have never heard these sounds. I kept thinking someone was knocking on our walls,” commented one caller to 911.  U.S. Air Force AC-130’s and other aircraft conducted aerial training at Grand Bay Bombing and Gunnery Range on April 15, but were noticed the night before.

Excess noise was heard throughout Berrien, Lanier and Lowndes counties and surrounding areas from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. and may occur again.

Military personnel regularly use the range and its surrounding airspace Monday to Friday during various hours for tactical air and ground maneuvers, as well as weapons training.
