News to Know for Shad Fishermen

Commercial fishermen can take to the water beginning at 12 a.m. on Weds., Jan. 1, 2020 to take advantage of the opening day of shad season, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division (WRD).
Shad season is scheduled to run through midnight on Mar. 31, 2020.
“Last year we had a good shad run, and it proved to be a good season for many of our shad fishermen, and we are optimistic and hopeful that this season will be favorable as well” said Jim Page, WRD Senior Fisheries Biologist.
