Lanier County 4-H Attends Junior Conference!

By Megan Powell

Lanier County – 778 volunteers, teen leaders, 4-H’ers, and 4-H staff gathered at Rock Eagle 4-H Center on November 16-17, 2019 to attend the annual Georgia 4-H Junior Conference. The weekend included a mix of workshops and education sessions, along with opportunities for community service and exhibits, planned by and led by the Junior Board of Directors. Recreational programs for 4-H’ers are included to allow 4-H’ers to interact with youth from all over Georgia. Educational workshops, community service, and recreation are led by high school-aged Teen Leaders. Lanier County 4-H had four attendees: Josie Livingston, Samuel Pruitt, Jacob Reid, and Ms. Megan Powell (4-H Agent). The theme for the weekend was “Where Dreams Come True”. All of the youth were given their own pair of mickey ears to go along with the Disney related theme. Our guest speaker shared information about the Disney College Internship Program and how 4-H teaches skills that prepare youth for the workforce.
