Life Celebration for Timothy “Tim” Alan Brogdon

Timothy “Tim” Alan Brogdon – 67 Of Valdosta, GA passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his beloved family. He was born on December 15, 1951 in Lakeland, GA to the late J.R. Brogdon and Wonnie (Greene) Brogdon of Valdosta. Because of his love for making a difference, Tim became one of the first EMT’s to be certified in Georgia in 1972 and started his EMT career with South Georgia Medical Center’s EMS in 1972 and was quickly promoted to “Chief” which he remained until his retirement in 2014.

Through his lifetime achievements and accomplishments, he was given many titles such as; Chief Brogdon (EMS Chief), Hospital Hero (Georgia Hospital Association), LifeSaver (SGMC Lifetime Service Award), Mentor, Basketball Star, ending with his favorite title of all, “Papi”. He received multiple prestigious awards such as; The John B. O’Neal III EMS Pioneer Award, the Governors’ Health and Human Service Award, and most recently, the EMS Commendation and Medal Award by the Valdosta Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. He is preceded in death by his father, J.R. Brogdon.
Survivors include his: Wife of 47 years: Margaret Brogdon of Valdosta, GA; Son & Daughter-in-Law: Jarrod & April Brogdon of Valdosta, GA; Daughter & Son-in-Law: Amy & Sean Draper of Valdosta, GA; 4 Grandsons who was his pride and joy: Gavin Draper, Braxton Draper, Kaden Cowart, Kole Cowart; Mother: Wonnie Brogdon of Valdosta, GA; Brother & Sister-in-Law: Randy & Kellie Brogdon of Valdosta, GA and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Southside Baptist Church in Lakeland, GA with burial to follow in the Fender Cemetery. Mr. Brogdon will be placed in the church one hour prior to the services. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday evening, November 5, 2019 at Morningside Baptist Church, 425 Connell Road, Valdosta, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to WGTC Foundation for the Tim Brogdon EMS Scholarship Fund at 4089 Val Tech Road, Valdosta, GA 31602 or Langdale Hospice of South Georgia, 2263 Pineview Dr., Valdosta, GA 31602.
